I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Surf Side Hotel. The oceanfront room provided stunning views of the sun rising over the water every morning, and the common areas were beautifully decorated, making it easy to feel at home.
More elevators would improve accessibility greatly.

Loved the breakfast spread—waffles, pastries, and all the goodies! That afternoon cookie reception? Absolutely delightful! The hotel atmosphere felt clean, homey, and quite friendly.
The lack of an elevator is a downer, especially for us seasoned travelers. Also, the breakfast hours might leave early risers hangry.

We loved our stay at the hotel, especially with our five kids! The pool area was fantastic, well-maintained, and provided endless fun for the little ones. Plus, the breakfast each morning was a highlight for the family, with delicious options to fuel our busy days exploring Nags Head.
My kids wished for a more spacious room for all of us. A bit more room to move around would have made a big difference.

However, I did have to wrestle with the pool's hours—no night swims because the health dept. thinks we're all vampires, I guess! Also, the mattress felt like a hug from a very tired bear.

Check-in felt like a hassle. my first room didn’t match the online description, which led to some frustrating back-and-forth. The elevator operates at a snail's pace, prompting many to opt for the stairs, while the bathroom in our room could definitely use some updates—definitely not the most luxurious if that's what you're looking for.

The location of Surf Side is fantastic, just a short walk to the beach and surrounded by great restaurants and shops. The room was clean and comfortable with a lovely view of the surf. I enjoyed the breakfast options, especially the hot meals which exceeded my expectations. Staff members were friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome throughout our stay. However, a few aspects need improvement. The elevator is outdated and slow, which made getting to our room on the fourth floor a bit frustrating at times. Also, the indoor pool area was lacking towels, which I mentioned to the staff, and it was resolved quickly but it shouldn’t have been an issue in the first place. Some common areas could use a good cleaning, like the elevator which didn’t seem to be cleaned during our stay. Still, the overall experience was enjoyable, and I would consider staying here again despite the minor inconveniences.
